Whether you are skilled carpenter, or have never picked up a hammer, we encourage you to come lend a hand. Come out and work for a day or build with us every week until it's done! Consider volunteering with family members or colleagues from an organization that you belong to; group Build Days are a great way to bring your co-workers, teammates or church groups closer together. The experience of working together to build a home for a family in need is one that will last a lifetime.
If you would like to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Martha's Vineyard but are not interested in "banging nails," please consider donating your time or talents for other programs. We are always in need of folks to:
- help plan and promote events;
- liaison with church groups;
- research land titles;
- haul materials and do dump runs;
- distribute promotional materials throughout the island to retail outlets, hotels/inns, visitor centers and other locations.
In the garden, we'd be grateful for your help if you can (or want to learn to):
- plant trees;
- push a wheelbarrow;
- grade and spread topsoil;
- lay paving stones.
